Fran Price has always loved her foster brother, Eddie Bertram.

All her foster siblings, including Eddie, have used Fran all their lives, to deal with all sorts of family problems. When he is jilted by a woman who also causes the breakdown of his sister's marriage, Fran is there to pick up the pieces, for Eddie and the whole family.

But a jealous aunt drives Fran from the only home she has known for years. She tries to build a new life alone. But some members of the family realise what they have lost, and set out to welcome her back again.
